Elizabeth Barrett Browning House (Second Life)
VCARA (Virtual Center for Archives and Records Administration), San Jose State University
December 2022 – ongoing
Why it Matters
This interactive house, with notecards and sound snippets of the work of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and her husband Robert Browning, would be the first virtual worlds exhibit I ever worked on.
It caught the attention of other virtual worlds educators, who invited me to present a poster and machinima on my experiences doing quality assurance to create the build as part of Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education 2023.
Aside from the signs on the walls, the notecards, and the recoded audio (my own voice reading part of one of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s sonnets), the rest of the items were either created by Arcadia Asylum (or one of her alts), or were furniture provided by VCARA. The empty building was already part of the VCARA Victorian Village build.
A machinima was also created to complement this presentation. You can see it below.
This experience would then lead to being invited to speak on creating interactive experiences as part of the Virtual Worlds Education Consortium Expert Series. You can see that video below:
A machinima about how this project began my road to being greatly involved with Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education was showcased at Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education 2026.
Information through the Ages (Second Life)
Virtual Worlds Education Consortium Student Challenge
Honorable Mention
September 2023 – December 2023
Why it Matters
Created an inworld exhibit expressing the relevance of the academic course of study I pursued as part of using virtual worlds in my own education.
Part of inaugural Virtual Worlds Educational Consortium Student Challenge, with the exhibit later relocated for long-term display at VCARA as San Jose State University had been my sponsor for the Student Challenge.
The building was purchased (as allowed by the rules) but I created all of the exhibits inside.
Later invited to present a poster and machinima on the experience as part of Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education 2024.
You can view the machinima below that was originally created for the Student Challenge and later exhibited at Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education 2024.

WHY IT MATTERS
In 2026, I had recently completed several projects for nonprofits regarding the knowledge management of their information to make it accessible to the communities they served. I featured that information in an exhibit that served as a continuation and tribute to my Student Challenge exhibit (see “Information Through the Ages”).
Librarian and Educator Self Care Education Area (Kitely)
Personal Project
Fall 2025 – ongoing
Why it Matters
It was my personal work to translate a concept I was personally passionate about and had created in several other virtual worlds during my student years (including Second Life, FrameVR, and Spatial) and take what I had learned from adapting the content to all three spaces and improve on it in an area I completely controlled and not for any academic grade.
The information displays were created by me, as well as the notecard giver, but the rest of the items were purchased or provided as part of the standard Kitely island starter. This was intentional as my FrameVR experience also had an island theme. I wanted to try merging the island theme from the FrameVR experience with the interactivity similar to my Second Life exhibit.
Please refer to this video from my project Virtual Worlds Educast giving a walkthrough about my process on this project.
LIBRARIAN AND EDUCATOR SELF CARE EDUCATION EXHIBIT (SECOND LIFE)
PROTOTYPE AT VIRTUAL WORLDS BEST PRACTICES IN EDUCATION 2024
FINAL VERSION AT VCARA ISCHOOL ISLAND
MARCH 2024 – ONGOING
WHY IT MATTERS
This was the first exhibit I expressly designed to align with coursework and interests that evolved during my Masters of Library and Information Science program at San Jose State University. I wanted to find an immersive way to share peer-reviewed information using notecards, a step up from my prior project of Elizabeth Barrett Browning House which had been created solely out of interest. However, like the Browning House, this was not a class project.
The below video provides more information about the evolution of the project, which would later be replicated in FrameVR and Spatial during the time I was in school.
Personal Library and Archive (Second Life)
Personal Project
January 2026 – ongoing
Why it Matters
I could not depend on my educational institution to preserve information on my past projects, nor did I have a central location to showcase past presentations. Therefore, I built my own on personal land I own in Second Life as most of my schoolwork was done there and many conferences and presentations I have done also have been in Second Life.
